Bafta and Rocliffe have chosen three profitable scripts for the 2024 New Writing Competitors and Showcase.
The three winners are: Spellbound by Charlie Dinkin and Chris Anastasi; The Fats Mermaid Membership by Hannah Kennedy; and Silence by Alex Salam.

The scripts had been chosen from over 600 entries, by means of a three-tier blind choice course of by a jury of business professionals.
Jurors included the BFI’s head of UK International Display screen Fund Denitsa Yordanova; Lionsgate’s head of improvement & acquisitions Emma Berkofsky; BBC Movie commissioning government Kristin Irving; GFM Movies director Michael Ryan; casting director Sherry Thomas; filmmakers Frank Berry, Sara Sugarman and Stephanie Laing; producer Yaw Basoah; and writers John Jackson and Olivia Hetreed. The jury was chaired by Rocliffe founder and producer Farah Abushwesha.
The scripts might be showcased at a live-only occasion on Tuesday, November 26, introduced to business friends together with producer Fiona Lamptey, Berry and filmmaker James Krishna Floyd.
