Palestine selects Annemarie Jacir’s BFI and BBC Film-backed ‘Palestine 36’ as Oscar entry

Annemarie Jacir’s Palestine 36 has been chosen as Palestine’s entry to the worldwide characteristic movie Oscar award for 2026.

The choice was determined by an unbiased committee of Palestinian movie professionals and confirmed by the Palestinian Ministry of Tradition.

Documenting the interval of 1936-39, Palestine 36 follows a person navigating between Jerusalem and his rural house amid escalating unrest with the British Empire rulers.
